Ever since the day we got engaged my fiance and I had looked for a normal slow song, however not one that’s overheard. We came across this song one day while listening to a pop channel on Sirius radio…it’s called "These are the Days" by Van Morrison. Because we didn’t want something that people have heard at a trillion weddings we googled popular wedding songs and it was on NONE of the lists…we think it’s perfect and it’s a really pretty song. We didn’t want anything like At Last, When I Fall in Love, I’ll Be, It’s a Wonderful World, or any of those other about 30 songs that seem to be at EVERY wedding. We also went to 8 weddings this summer (yes 8) and it was never played.

First Love – by Utada Hikaru. Awesome song in 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 English.

Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. We didn’t have a band or DJ at our reception, just a sit down dinner at a restaurant. We went to Jamaica for our honeymoon and when we got there, a band was playing Three Little Birds so we had our first dance. We both love reggae music and it was perfect! A staff member even snapped our picture so we have a pic of our first dance in our wedding album.

    You and Me-Lifehouse

  13. Kristin says:

We had our first dance to "I’ll Be" by Edwin McCain.

  14. Amie87 says:

Bryan Adams- Always be right there

It’s not one of the most popular songs, alot of people haven’t heard of it. It’s still a pretty traditional pick for our dance though. I don’t really care about tradition though. It just really makes me think of my fiance.

We danced to "Sweet Thing" by Van Morrison. It’s one of his lesser-known songs on the Astral Weeks album.

"Ohhhhhhhwhoa, SWEET Thang, sweet thing." "I shall drive my chariot down your streets and cry. Well it’s me I’m dynamite and I don’t know why. And you shall take me strongly in your arms again. And I will not remember that I ever felt the pain. And we shall walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain. And I will never, never, ever grow so old again."

  34. softball_218 says:

heaven by bryan adams (best love song ever!)

  35. Amanda H says:

We went outside the box a little. Our song was "Ice Cream" by Sara McLachlan We were married six years ago. On our first date we went for ice cream, and that was always our little fun thing to do, so when I first heard that song (it goes "your love is better than ice cream, better than anything else that I’ve tried…) I KNEW if we ever got married that would be our song. And it was.

What’s funny is I was watching a wedding show a couple years later, and the couple that was featured chose the same song! And the mother was upset that they were going with something "untraditional." I think you song should have meaning to you, not just be the "in" wedding son.
